Tupidanthus Calyptratus Umbrella Tree Plant

TUPIDANTHUS CALYPTRATUS UMBRELLA TREE PLANT

Tupidanthus Calyptratus is a fast growing tropical evergreen tree or shrub with highly-glossy, pinnately-compound, bright green leaves that droop downward to create an attractive weeping appearance. The Tupindanthus, also known as the Umbrella tree, is the perfect large plant to fill the empty corner space in your house with beautiful greenery look.

Leathery caps fall off the 1 inch wide 4-sided base of the flowers in late fall and early winter, revealing the numerous green stamens. This base turns brown and stays on the plant, like small mallets, earning it the nickname "mallet flower." This plant is most recognised for its lovely foliage and is not nearly as showy in blossom as the red flowered octopus tree, Schefflera actinophylla, which it otherwise resembles.
